President August 2017 Column

Happy August! I hope you all have had a great summer so far.  Here at Temple Judah, we’re enjoying the weather by periodically holding Friday evening services outside in the Silber Outdoor Sanctuary. Check the calendar and the weekly Shaliach for dates!

As the Congregational President, I’d like to use this column to share information about Temple Judah. In the coming months, each column will highlight a particular topic, from exciting happenings at Temple Judah, interesting history that might not be widely known, important news, changes and improvements, information about the budget, and how your annual pledges and donations help the Temple Judah community. I am personally interested in learning and sharing the stories surrounding the artifacts displayed around the synagogue, particularly the ones in the lower sanctuary. If you have a specific topic you like to see, or something interesting to share about TJ, please let me know and I will consider it for a future column!

One change effective this month is that the Saturday morning traditional service has been moved from the first weekend to the second weekend of the month. The Ritual Committee made the decision for this move by listening to suggestions from congregants who have been attending the traditional service. This change helps avoid holiday weekends for which people are often out of town, like Independence Day and Labor Day, that occur within the first week of the month. We hope this means even more congregants will join us at services.

If you’ve never attended the Saturday morning service at 9:30 am, please feel welcome to join us!  Afterwards, schmooze with fellow congregants at the light luncheon oneg. For questions, contact myself, Rabbi Todd, or any member of the Ritual Committee. Hope to see you there!

Shalom,

Jill
President
