“Songs from the Holocaust”
Recital Hall, Voxman Music Building
93 E. Burlington St., Iowa City

“Songs of the Holocaust” is a CD released by University of Iowa music professor, Rachel Joselson. The songs recorded were composed by the inmates of Theresienstadt concentration camp. “The Nazis sent many musicians, composers and artists there, and the inmates composed hundreds of songs, both vocal and instrumental, as they endured their internment.” Joselson also said, “Most people aren’t accustomed to hearing songs from Holocaust victims. Anything that helps people to remember the story and what happened is helpful. To learn more, click here to read the article in the Gazette’s December 23rd edition, “Calling from the Darkness: Music Written by Holocaust Victims recorded in new album“.
