Dr. Jeannette Gabriel, Director, Schwalb Center for Israel & Jewish Studies, will lead a discussion on the connections between family collections and broader Jewish and American history, examining Jewish women’s lives from complex perspectives, and placing family collections in archives.

Introduction to Genealogy with Jewish Federation of the Corridor (Iowa) and Helene Lubaroff
Please join us for a fun, relaxed, and informal introduction to genealogy for beginners, focused on creating a family tree on Ancestry, as well as an opportunity for those with more experience to connect with other genealogists.
These monthly Zoom workshops will be an opportunity to learn the basics of using Ancestry, locate helpful online genealogy resources, ask questions, offer insights, share frustrations, and celebrate breakthroughs. Everyone is welcome to attend, from beginners starting their first tree, to experienced genealogists. A membership on Ancestry is NOT required for participation.

“Corridor Jewish Cooks: Israeli Cooking Class with Jaime Holt”
Join us Tuesday April 27 on Zoom to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day, but a little later in the month!) by learning to make chicken shawarma and laffa pita so you can indulge in your favorite Middle Eastern cuisine from the comfort of your own home. The cooking class will be led by Iowa Hillel’s kitchen manager, Jaime Holt.
