President’s May 2019 Column

Summer will soon be upon us! Here at Temple Judah, we’re getting ready for summer in a few ways. Religious school is wrapping up by celebrating with a picnic in Bever Park, and this weekend is Spring Grounds Day!

Join us this Sunday, April 28th at 9:30 am, to spruce up the Temple Judah grounds! Right now the weather looks sunny and perhaps a tad chilly for making Temple Judah ready for summer. Bring garden tools and gloves if you have them. This is a great opportunity for tikkun olam, getting to know your fellow congregants, and seeing the fruits of our labor during outdoor Shabbat services this summer (the first of which is June 7th). All who help will be rewarded with Tony Smith’s famous fruit salad!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the community Passover Seder and a huge thank you to all who helped set up tables and place settings, prepare food, run the seder, and clean up afterwards. We couldn’t have put on the event without you!  Also thanks to Lena Gilbert for hosting the Passover luncheon after morning services.

We had a very busy April, and Steve Eckert has been very busy putting together a few films of these events. Thank you to Steve for your time and effort that goes into compiling and editing these films! Be sure to check the bulletin for links to the videos, especially if you couldn’t join us for them in person.

Reminder to save the date for the Annual Congregational Meeting and BBQ on June 2nd! We’ll grill the burgers, hot dogs, and vegetarian “meats”, you bring a side to share. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm, and then we’ll hold the meeting at 6:30 pm. In addition to a couple important tasks like elections and approving the budget for next year, you can look forward to Steve Eckert’s annual Year in Review video! This is a great way to reminisce on everything we’ve done throughout the year. Hope to see you there!

Be sure to check the bulletin for more events and updates coming this month!
