Shalom All,
It’s hard to believe that summer has nearly come and gone. It’s already August and even though the High Holy Days don’t start until September 22nd this year, all the normal preparations for the coming year are well under way.
As always happens in the month of August, our High Holy Day Choir will begin practicing for services. The choir will start rehearsing on Monday, August 18th, at 7:00 pm, and will meet every Monday through Yom Kippur. There is always room for more musicians and singers in the choir if you have any wish to join us.
We’ve also begun planning our Religious School year. We will, again, be meeting twice a month, September through April, as one group, parents and all our students (though we’d also like to break up into older and younger students for part of the day). Our focus this year, will be on the stories of the Kings and Prophets, along with art, and cooking, and music. School starts on September 7th. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Finally, I’d like to remind you that you’ve one more opportunity, this summer, to join us in the Silber Outdoor Sanctuary for Shabbat Services. Our next outdoor service is August 29th, at 6:30 pm. Anyone who has been there will attest, they really are quite special. The weather has never been uncomfortable. There’s always shade and a slight breeze. Only real human beings praying together the old way, with books and no screens. Along with the resident deer, who look on at us curiously.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of you summer. Stay cool, and come and join us when you can.
B’shalom,
Rabbi Todd
