“You don’t want to miss it”
The rain was coming down hard and the wind was blowing. As I drove to Temple to attend services on August 15th, I didn’t think there would be anyone else in attendance. I was pleasantly surprised to find a good turnout. The Rabbi was gone on vacation and Mike was leading services along with the electric piano playing and singing by Amy. Very nice job! It was good to see Temple Judah’s new electric piano put to good use. Having a senior moment, I stopped on the way to buy a card for Marilyn’s 90th birthday, but realized her birthday was the following week! I attended the next Friday’s service and enjoyed the celebration of Marilyn’s 90th birthday with all those in attendance. Oh well, just attended services two weeks in a row (and it will be 3 in a row…when I attend the outdoor services on August 29th!) BTW, this is the last chance (until next summer) to attend the outdoor services at the Silber Outdoor Sanctuary. You don’t want to miss it!
For those of you who might worry about climbing the steps to get to the outdoor sanctuary the Rabbi has figured out a route that people can use without having to climb any steps. By going in the front entrance door… taking the elevator down… walking through the Traditional sanctuary… then down the hall next to the Gasway library you would come out by the lower exit door. No steps. We hope to see you this Friday for the last outdoor service of the year.
One thing I always keep in the back of my mind as a member of Temple Judah is we are all one large family. We come together to celebrate wonderful occasions like Marilyn’s 90th birthday, Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, a baby naming, conversions, high school graduations and marriages. But we also support those who are ill and sit shiva with our members who have lost loved ones.
Please join the Temple Judah family and do your part and contribute to keeping the flame alive and burning bright. Don’t sit on the outside, looking in. Participate!!
