Any person of the Jewish faith, 18 years or older, may apply to be elected to membership at Temple Judah. Upon approval by the Board of Directors, the new member will be considered in “good standing” after making an appropriate dues payment or pledge for the current fiscal year. Annual payment of dues is necessary to remain a member in good standing.
The spouse of a member in good standing shall be considered to be a member in good standing. Voting privileges and the holding of office and membership on the Temple Board shall be reserved to Jews by birth and Jews by conversion.
Only a member in good standing will be entitled to the following privileges:
- Bar/Bat Mitzvahs (including setting and keeping a date on the Temple calendar)
- Choir membership
- Bima honors
- Eligibility to apply for youth scholarship funds
- Inclusion in the TJ Membership Directory
- Rabbinical officiation at all life cycle events.
Lifecycle events are at the center of the Temple Judah community and bring members together to celebrate joyous occasions and support one another during sickness and sorrow.
Temple Judah will assist families with many lifecycle events including:
- Baby naming
- B’nei Mitzvah
- Conversion to Judaism
- Short and long-term illness
