“The cycle of life goes on …”
We attended a Sabbath service in November intending to say Kaddish for our daughter Tobi and was gob smacked and pleased to find there was a baby naming during the service. The baby naming dulled the normal sadness of a Yahrzeit and it was a wonderful event for Temple Judah to add a new child and the Tournoy family to our congregation.
I had a chance to speak with the father of the baby’s father who was in attendance from the Chicagoland. He was a wonderful person, and I enjoyed our discussion about Judaism and his son’s upbringing. During the course of our conversation there was a lull in the conversation, and he quietly asked me about Tobi’s Yahrzeit. I told him my story about her death, and he shook my hand for comfort. It was a very touching moment and I really appreciated his sensitivity. I told him how wonderful it is to see the cycle of life with his grandson’s naming and my daughter’s Yahrzeit. It is truly why Temple Judah is such a wonderful atmosphere for prayer!
I know, I know, I mention this every month…but I really believe it! I always keep in the back of my mind that, as a member of Temple Judah, we are all one large family. We come together to celebrate wonderful occasions like Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, baby naming’s, conversions, high school graduations and marriages. But we also support those who are ill and sit shiva with our members who have lost loved ones.
Please join the Temple Judah family and do your part and contribute to keeping the flame alive and burning bright. Don’t sit on the outside, looking in. Participate!!
