President’s Column September 2018

Shanah Tovah!

In just over a week, we say goodbye to 5778 and welcome the new year, 5779. Join us in hearing the shofar and dipping apples with honey to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Our full High Holy Day service schedule includes Selichot, Rosh Hashanah, Shabbat Shuvah, and Yom Kippur. We continue our flurry of holidays with Sukkot and end the month with Simchat Torah services. There is plenty of opportunity to join our community for services this month. See the Bulletin for service dates and times for each of Reform and Traditional services.

Sunday, September 23rd, is the first official day of Fall and the beginning of Sukkot! That morning, we’ll be having our Fall Grounds Day and building the Sukkah. Everyone is welcome to help us kick off the fall season by beautifying the synagogue grounds and constructing the Sukkah. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our wonderful Temple Judah community, take care of our little patch of earth, and revel in the fall weather as we work together.

We are excited to be looking forward to two B’nei Mitzvahs coming up! Hannah Homrighausen-Hoer’s Bat Mitzvah this weekend is one of our last big events of 5778, and Joseph Heeren’s Bar Mitzvah is one of our first big events of 5779 in October.  See the bulletin for details on how to RSVP for both. Congratulations to Hannah and Joseph!

I wish everyone a sweet year in 5779!

Shanah Tovah,

Jill
President
