President’s Column June 2018

Mazel tov to all our summer high school and college graduates and to our Bar/Bat mitzvahs this year! You’ve studied and worked hard to get this far. Good luck in your future endeavors and always keep learning. We’re proud of you!

Looking back at the past year, it’s easy to see that Temple Judah is an active and thriving community. We’ve held education opportunities, for both kids and adults alike, to grow in their religious studies – from Sunday Religious School to Hebrew classes of varying levels, Shalom Hartman lectures, and Torah study after Shavuot services. We have celebrated holidays, from Rosh Hashanah’s first blast of the shofar to decorating the sukkah, frying latkes for our Hanukkah dinner, munching matzah at the Passover seder, and observing a day of rest each week on Shabbat. We’ve celebrated life milestones, including birthdays, anniversaries, and kids becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

The Congregational AnnualMeeting on Sunday, May 27th is the perfect opportunity to reflect on everything in our Temple Judah community this past year and to make plans for the next year! In addition to viewing Stephen Eckert’s annual Year-in-Review video, we’ll be finalizing plans for next year’s budget, approving revisions of the bylaws, and reviewing new board members and officers. You’ll also hear a bit about all the work the board has been doing this year. We hope you can join us!

Just a couple weeks following the meeting, some in our Temple Judah congregation will be joining others from Temple B’nai Jeshurun on the Israel trip of a lifetime. Safe travels to those journeying to Israel and to all who are vacationing this summer!

Hope to see you all at the annual meeting.

Jill
